Choose a blue background that suits the portrait

A blue background can give a portrait or personal graphic a distinct setting without a busy scene behind it. Light blue often leaves a softer impression, while deeper shades create stronger contrast. Start with the blue preset, then compare a custom solid shade using the same processed cutout. Keep the subject's clothing and the intended design in mind as you choose.

Changing the background does not relight the person or recolor their clothing. A strongly warm portrait may look different against a cool blue than it did in the original scene. Use a source photo with lighting you already like, and review the complete image rather than selecting a shade based only on the color swatch.

Check hair, shoulders and the separation from blue

Inspect hair and the outline of both shoulders after the original background is removed. Blue clothing may merge visually with a similar blue background, while a bright edge from the old scene may become more obvious against a saturated color. Compare a lighter and darker shade to see whether the subject remains easy to distinguish.

Use the original comparison to check that glasses, earrings and small gaps have not been removed with the background. The color control reuses the same cutout, so a different blue cannot restore lost details. If the source is blurry or the background overlaps the subject's outline, try a sharper photo. The goal is a convincing portrait, not simply a rectangle of the right color.

Verify framing before using a blue background photo

Choose the original canvas to preserve the processed image's proportions, or use the square option for a square layout. Inspect the space above the head and beside the shoulders before downloading. The preview fits the image into a viewing area, but the downloaded file is limited to the chosen canvas. Check the output dimensions and open the file to confirm its boundaries.

If you are preparing a photo for an application or identification document, consult that issuer's current requirements first. Rules may specify an exact background, head size, crop, expression or restrictions on editing. A blue fill alone does not make a photo compliant, and this tool does not certify or automatically crop an official ID photograph.

Export the blue version and preserve your alternatives

Download JPG when the destination expects a conventional solid-background photograph. PNG is useful when you want to avoid JPG compression of the processed result, and WebP can be used where supported. With blue selected, all three contain the chosen solid background. A PNG extension does not automatically mean that the image is transparent.

You can compare another solid color without uploading the same photo again. For a reusable subject, select transparent and save a separate PNG or WebP. Keep clear filenames for different versions, and retain the original. Download files you want to keep.

Can I try it without an account?

Yes. This preview lets you process single images without signing in. Requests are rate-limited to keep the service responsive; no payment is collected in this version.

Is the default blue a standard ID-photo background?

No. The default is soft blue (#dbeafe), not a certified document-photo color. You can choose another color, but the tool does not validate official photo rules or provide document-specific face framing.

What happens to my photos?

Your images are processed to remove their backgrounds and are not used to train AI models. Download and save the results you want to keep.

Can I use a specific shade of blue?

Yes. Use the custom color control to choose a shade. Check hair and transparent edges in the comparison preview. This does not automatically make a photo suitable for official identity documents.

Will changing the background to blue recolor my face or clothes?

The selected blue fills the area outside the extracted subject; it is not a clothing or skin recoloring tool. Inspect hair, glasses and blue clothing in the preview, because an imperfect cutout can remove part of the subject.

How do I use the same blue for several portrait photos?

Enter the same color value in the custom color control for each photo. Process and download the portraits one at a time. Matching the background color does not standardize pose, lighting, dimensions or official photo requirements.

Can I change the blue background to pink, black or another color?

Yes. After background removal, use the custom color control to choose another solid color. The same cutout is reused, so you can compare colors without uploading again. This tool does not generate a photographic scene or change the subject’s clothing color.

Will a blue background photo keep the original size?

Changing the background color does not resize the processed cutout. Processing may already have reduced a large original to meet image limits. Keep the original canvas to use those processed dimensions, or choose a square canvas capped at 4096 pixels; inspect the displayed dimensions before downloading.
